Dynamic Richmond duo Brett Deledio and Dustin Martin dominated the voting in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award for last Sunday’s Round 16 twilight match against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.
They received nine votes apiece from respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Alan Richardson (St Kilda) for their vital roles in the Tigers’ 16-point win.
Deledio finished the match with 28 disposals, including 15 score involvements, four inside-50s, an equal game-high three goals, and he took eight marks.
Martin had a team-high 29 disposals, including 11 score involvements, a team-high six inside-50s, equal team-high five clearances, and five marks.
The Tigers’ two other vote-getters in the match were talented youngsters Nick Vlastuin and Ben Lennon.
Vlastuin polled two votes for another strong performance across the Richmond backline, which netted him 17 disposals, including rebound-50s and seven marks.
Lennon, recalled to the Tigers’ line-up for just his second game this season, picked up one vote after booting three goals in a classy display up forward.
