Richmond utility Chris Knights is set for another lengthy stint on the sidelines, this time with a hamstring injury.
Knights was subbed of last Saturday night’s game against the Brisbane Lions during the second quarter.
It was his first game at AFL level since Round 7, 2013, when he injured his patella tendon, which started a chain of complications and injury setbacks over the next two years.
Scans today revealed damage to Knights’ hamstring tendon, which will require surgery.
The injury is likely to see him on the sidelines for 10-12 weeks.
“We’re really feel for Chris, as he showed on the weekend he could still make an impact at the highest level,” said Richmond General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson.
“We have no doubt Chris will attack his rehab with the same determination he has shown over the last 24 months, and we will support him through that.”
In other injury news at Tigerland, vice-captain Brett Deledio is unlikely to be available for selection for this Friday night’s match against Melbourne.
Midfielder Reece Conca has recovered from a hamstring injury and will join in full training this week, with conditioning his focus before he is ready for selection.
And defender Dylan Grimes is expected to miss one more week with a hamstring injury.
