Matthew Richardson gives Tiger fans an update on his AFL Fantasy teams and Superboot selections after Round 10.

AFL Fantasy

Just as I was getting the hang of the bye rounds, they’ve finished! This week Richo’s Racers finished on 1721, which gave me a weekly ranking of 8,487. That’s much better than my overall rank, which I won’t disclose here…

Overall, I was pretty pleased with my team this week. The pain of Gary Ablett’s quiet Fantasy game was (almost) offset by Jack Riewoldt’s monster 156 points, courtesy of his career-best 11-goal haul against GWS.

Jack was the leading Tiger this week, with Brandon Ellis snapping at his heels on 127, and Dustin Martin just behind on 111. There were seven Tigers with scores of over 100 this week, which is a great effort.

Now that the byes are over and I still have two trades a week, I think I can really improve and shoot up the Richmond fan league rankings. My goal is to get within the top 20 by Round 23. I’m currently 40th, so it’s a big challenge, but I think the Racers are up for it.

Stephen L and his team “Massive Scorgasm” has had a massive fall from grace, and after leading the league for weeks, has dropped to third! Bad luck Stephen. Karl N and his team “YesYesYes” have taken over top spot.

Good luck for Round 11!

Superboot

AFL Fantasy wasn’t the only place Gary Ablett hurt me this week. I was so close to picking Jack for my Superboot as well!

‘Gaz’ was far too busy tussling with Liam Picken all afternoon to score any goals, so I had to cop a donut this week. This has dropped me from 45th to 98th! All my good work with Jay Schulz and the Superboot card three weeks ago has been undone!

Anyone who did pick Jack Riewoldt would have been very happy with themselves after his 11-goal effort. I have a feeling that S Springer, in first place, would have gone with Jack – he is now seven goals clear of second place.

This is now the last round to win May prizes – so make sure you sign up if you haven’t already, and get fresh and ready for June. An iPad, footy tickets, or cold hard cash could be yours – all you have to do is pick the goalkicker!
