Richmond’s dramatic turnaround in terms of strike power up forward this year, is underlined by the fact only one league club had more players kick 25 goals-plus for the 2011 home-and-away season.

The Tigers had five players who accomplished the feat - Jack Riewoldt 62, Ty Vickery 36, Dustin Martin 33, Robin Nahas 29, and Jake King 25.  That’s the same number as Geelong, which powered its way through to a fifth successive preliminary final berth last weekend.

Only Essendon, bundled out of the finals race on Sunday, had more players score 25 goals or more during the 2011 home-and-away rounds - a total of seven.

Reigning premier Collingwood had four who reached that figure, while Carlton, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne, St Kilda and West Coast were next with three each, followed by Adelaide, Fremantle, Port Adelaide, Sydney and Western Bulldogs all with two, and then Brisbane and Gold Coast, who both had none.

In 2010, Richmond had just one player, who managed to kick more than 15 goals for the season - Coleman Medallist Jack Riewoldt, who finished with 78.

This year’s result makes it the most number of players to score 25 goals-plus in a season at Tigerland since Kevin Bartlett’s debut season as coach in 1988, when the Club had six - Jeff Hogg 57, Dale Weightman 34, Michael Mitchell 33, Michael Pickering 26, Phil Egan 26, and Justin Pickering 25.
