One half of Richmond’s powerful ‘bookends’ has heaped praise on the other half.
All-Australian key defender Alex Rance paid tribute to dual Coleman Medallist Jack Riewoldt in the wake of the Tigers’ 30-point victory over Carlton at the MCG last Friday night.
Riewoldt again played a key role for the team, finishing with 15 disposals, including a game-high eight inside-50s, a game-high three goals, and a game-high 10 marks, including four grabs inside 50.
“I think he’s having a fantastic season and he was fighting under duress tonight as well, pretty much playing on three blokes the whole time,” Rance told 3AW.
“He’s an absolute superstar.
“It’d be nice if we could have two of him because he’s just got such a smart football brain when he’s up the ground and puts people in good positions. But you sort of want him to kick it to him.
“He’s having a really mature season. He’s 26 now, so he’s over that hump . . . he wants team success over that individual accolade.”
