Richmond and the Alannah & Madeline Foundation gave some Christmas cheer to children affected by family violence.

Through their partnership, the Tigers hosted about 40 children and their families for the fourth annual Alannah & Madeline Foundation Christmas Party at Punt Road Oval on Saturday, December 3.

Tiger players Dylan Grimes, Sam Lloyd, Shaun Grigg, Brandon Ellis, Taylor Hunt and Steven Morris were on hand to hand out the presents, and coordinate footy activities.

Mattel donated all the toys that were given as gifts, in the spirit of spreading Christmas cheer.

Further entertainment included live music, face painting, games, giveaways and food and drink.

Grimes, who is a Friend of the Foundation, said it was important to support the Club’s preferred charity partner.

“It’s all about giving a little bit back to kids in need,” Grimes said.

“It’s a shame that charities like this have to exist but unfortunately one million children a year are affected by family violence, so to be able to have a small impact on that is something important to the Richmond Football Club.”

Lloyd said the playing group felt privileged to support the Alannah & Madeline Foundation in its mission to keep children safe from violence.

“To come out and see all the parents and kids, obviously they’ve been through quite a bit but to have a kick with them and put a smile on their face, it’s really rewarding and something we get a lot out of,” Lloyd said.
