Richmond will enter Saturday’s big match against ladder leader Fremantle at the MCG with its confidence levels boosted through a recent winning run, but also fully aware of the work still required in order to go to the next level.

The Tigers are coming off four consecutive wins, but the last three of them (against GWS, Carlton and St Kilda) were nothing to write home about.

“You always get confidence when you win, but I think the good thing is the boys aren’t satisfied with those ugly sort of wins,” Richmond veteran Chris Newman said on this week’s edition of ‘Talking Tigers’.

“We’re happy to win – make no mistake about that – but we feel like there’s a lot of room for improvement.

“We’ve played some good patches of football throughout the year against some big teams in the competition, so we’re looking forward to ‘Freo’ this week because it’s going to be another huge challenge.

“They’re a formidable outfit and the way they structure up, they’re so disciplined.  And they’ve got a lot of stars around the footy . . .”
