Iconic football journalist Mike Sheahan will write for richmondfc.com.au in 2016, ranking the Club’s best 50 players over the past 50 years.
With 2015 marking the Club’s 50th year playing home games at the MCG, the timing was right for Sheahan to cast his expert eye back over the players that have worn the yellow and black in that time.
The only caveat was that players must have played games for Richmond, in a minimum of five seasons, during that period.
Sheahan will reveal his list from April 11, exclusively to the Club’s website.
Sheahan expected the Richmond-themed version of his famous 'Top 50' to stir plenty of debate.
“I really enjoyed the exercise because it allowed me to concentrate on one Club,” Sheahan said.
“It was a challenge and I’m sure the final list will create some debate – these lists always do.
“I watched a lot of Richmond growing up because they were such a great side.
“They have had some wonderful players over the past 50 years.”
Will players from the modern era dominate the list? Or will the Tigers of old make up the numbers?
