Exciting young Richmond small forward Daniel Rioli underlined his huge potential with a brilliant goal in the Round 4 match against West Coast at Domain Stadium that has been voted the Tigers’ fourth best of season 2016.
During the third quarter of the clash, Rioli, playing just his third game of AFL football, swooped on the ball after it had spilt out of a big pack from a marking contest, only to be brought to the ground in a tackle. He quickly sprang back up, however, dodged a couple of opponents, and snapped a superb, team-lifting six-pointer.
Respected Channel Seven commentator and triple Geelong premiership star, Cameron Ling, was suitably impressed with Rioli’s goal . . .
“Great to see . . . the composure here from Daniel Rioli and the footwork, to step out, buy himself some time . . . beautiful finish,” Ling said.
The second and best goal of the year, as voted by Richmond fans, will be revealed tomorrow, Friday September 23.
