Richmond fans will have to wait an extra week to see the club play in the fan-voted 2016 pre-season guernsey, with an alternate version of the new design to be worn in Friday’s NAB Challenge opener against Fremantle.
Due to the AFL deeming that the mostly black pre-season guernsey clashes with Fremantle’s dark purple strip, the Tigers will wear an electric yellow version against the Dockers in Mandurah.

The electric yellow has been on display throughout the pre-season during Richmond training sessions, with white shorts to accompany the guernsey in this week’s match.
The decision not to opt for the home and away season clash guernsey was made as the Club is committed to only wearing the traditional sash style in games for premiership points or AFL finals.
The Tigers will wear the new black pre-season guernsey in the second and third matches of the NAB Challenge, against Hawthorn and Port Adelaide respectively.
In mid-2015, the responsibility of selecting the 2016 pre-season guernsey was handed over Richmond’s members and fans, with the grey Tiger logo option winning with 71% of nearly 4,000 responses.
