Hard-working Richmond midfielder Anthony Miles has revealed how star key forward Jack Riewoldt had the ‘Eye of the Tiger’ in last Friday night’s clash with Collingwood at the MCG.
After a slow start to the match (no touches in the opening quarter), Riewoldt underlined his class, and fierce determination to succeed, by rising to the challenge in superb style.
He finished with an equal season-high four goals and was one of the driving forces in Richmond’s emotive 15-point win.
“Even before the game, he was really adamant down in the rooms, saying that we’re going to come off and sing the song tonight. And you could just see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice,” Miles said on 3AW.
“I think after the first quarter, you could tell he was frustrated with how we were going as a side, and I think himself, personally.
“It speaks volumes for his character how he responded after that . . . He kicked four goals and had a hand in a fair few others.
“He’s certainly an inspirational leader, on and off the field . . .
“He’s just so passionate about the footy club and about the boys as well.”
