Richmond coach Damien Hardwick remains steadfast in his belief the Tigers can turn their on-field fortunes around after a slow start to the 2016 season, which sees them with just one win after four rounds.
And, Hardwick knows, from experience, the transformation can happen quickly.
“It might take one quarter and then, all of a sudden, you get things back on track,” Hardwick said at his weekly Punt Road press conference earlier today.
“I think back to last year, when we were two (wins) and four (losses) and the Collingwood game (Round 7), we were under the pump at quarter-time.
“Then, all of a sudden, it just flicked. I think we won 13 of our next 16 games.
“This group is more than capable . . .
“I’ve got great faith that we’ll get back to the footy we know we can play.
“We’re not playing well enough. We acknowledge that . . . as a playing group, as a coaching group.
“So, we’ve just got to make sure we put our best foot forward, and get the result we’re after this week.
“We’re incredibly confident this group has got the drive and the belief to do that.
“We haven’t shown it thus far, so the proof will be in the pudding this week.”
Hardwick pointed to the emerging crop of young talent at Tigerland as evidence the Club’s playing stocks are in far better shape than the early-season form of the senior side would suggest.
“(Corey) Ellis played his best game for the Club last week, (Connor) Menadue, we’ve found a player, Kamdyn McIntosh down back’s been a revelation, Daniel Rioli’s an excitement machine. We’ve got some really exciting talent in the side,” he said.
“Now I bring back some players that I’ve spoken about today (Deledio, Maric Miles) . . . all of a sudden the squad’s back to where we know they can play some good football . . .
“We’ve been floundering a little bit, there’s no doubt about that. But we’re still incredibly confident that the squad we’ve got is going to play some really good footy . . .”
