Players and staff from the Richmond Football Club were educated on the risks of gambling at an information session last week.

Through the Club’s partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation, the session covered topics such as why young males, and especially males interested in sport, are targeted by gambling advertising.

The informative session also explored subjects including the impact gambling can have on player performance and how players can look after themselves and their mates when it comes to gambling.

Richmond put pen to paper on a new three-year partnership with the VRGF in February and are invested in raising awareness of responsible gambling in the wider community.

Through the partnership, the Club signed the Responsible Gambling Charter, and made the important commitment to separate gambling from the game. The Charter is all about bringing the focus back to the love of the game, not the odds.
