Richmond’s 2019 premiership side contained the most players recruited from the same AFL/VFL club in the Tigers’ flag-winning history.

Talented trio Dion Prestia, Josh Caddy and Tom Lynch all started their league football careers at Gold Coast before finding their way to Tigerland (Caddy via Geelong).

Prestia played 95 games with the Suns from 2011-16, Caddy 24 from 2011-12 and Lynch 131 from 2011-19, including two years as their captain (2017-18).

The Tigers’ 1973 premiership line-up comprised two players recruited from St Kilda – brilliant Brownlow Medallist centreman Ian Stewart and clever half-forward Stephen Rae.

Richmond’s 1974 flag side included two former Footscray players – star centreman David Thorpe and robust centre half-back Robert McGhie.

And the Tigers’ 1980 premiership team had two players from Hawthorn – hard-running, skilful midfielder Barry Rowlings and valuable utility Peter ‘Woosha’ Welsh.
