Hard-running Richmond defender Brandon Ellis played his 100th consecutive AFL game in yesterday’s win against Hawthorn at the MCG.
Ellis hasn’t missed a match since midway through the 2013 season, and he’s played 129 out of a possible 132 games into his sixth season of AFL football.
The 24-year-old is in fourth place on the list of consecutive games by current AFL players, which is headed by North Melbourne’s Sam Gibson with 127.
It’s not just his durability which Ellis is now renowned for at Tigerland.
He has become a key member of the Tigers’ backline this year after spending his first few seasons in an outside midfield role.
Ellis is averaging 22.7 disposals and 5.1 marks per game this season and he’s ranked 20th in the competition for rebound-50s.
He’s combining tight defence with valuable run-and-carry out of Richmond’s backline.
