Richmond captain Trent Cotchin has provided an interesting insight into the mindset of the Tigers’ playing group going into last Friday night’s qualifying final clash with Geelong at the MCG.
From the outset, the Richmond players attacked each contest with enormous energy, applied manic pressure to their opponents and, eventually, were duly rewarded on the scoreboard.
“If you keep it simple, typically it’s a lot easier to control, and that’s the game of AFL itself,” Cotchin told 3AW.
“The more you focus on the things you are in control of, rather than worrying about the things that you’re not, you give yourself every opportunity to be in the contest.
“I think the boys took that on board and did it pretty well for four quarters, probably as consistently as we’ve done for a long period of time.
“There is a lot of youth in our team, but there also are guys that are playing on stuff that they’ve done all season, which you don’t have to hide away from.”
