Dan Butler parlayed his strong pre-season showing on the training track and in intra-club hit-outs, into an impressive display for Richmond in its opening JLT Community Series match against Adelaide at Etihad Stadium last Friday night.
The slick, quick, small forward, who has been on the Tigers’ playing list for two years, but is yet to make his senior debut, finished with 17 disposals, including an equal team-high seven score involvements and one goal off his own boot.
He also recorded a game-high 20 pressure acts and 328 metres gained, which was the third most by any Richmond player over the course of the four quarters.
Butler repeatedly took the game on, and broke it open through his lightning pace, causing considerable problems for the Adelaide defence in the process.
On that form, Butler must be rated a real chance to win a senior opportunity with the Tigers early in season 2017.
