Richmond superstar Dustin Martin is poised to become just the 16th player in the Club’s league football history to win back-to-back Best and Fairest awards.
Martin, red-hot favorite for this year’s Brownlow Medal and Jack Dyer Medal, took out the 2016 Tigers’ Best and Fairest by one vote from outstanding key defender Alex Rance, who had won it in 2015. Triple Jack Dyer Medallist Trent Cotchin finished in third place, 11 votes behind Martin.
It was Martin’s first Jack Dyer Medal, but given he’s taken his game to an even impressively higher level throughout season 2017, another Club Best and Fairest clearly beckons.
If so, the brilliant midfielder also would become the 24th multiple winner of Richmond’s Best and Fairest award.
And, if Martin completes the Brownlow/Jack Dyer Medal double, he would become the fifth Tiger to do so, joining Bill Morris (1948), Roy Wright (1952 and 1954), Ian Stewart (1971) and Trent Cotchin (2012).
