Richmond players will wear a dedicated guernsey in support of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation in this Sunday’s Round 20 match against Hawthorn at the MCG.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, which cares for children who have experienced or witnessed serious violence in the home, and runs programs that prevent violence against children including bullying and cyber bullying.

Sunday’s special edition guernsey features the colour purple, which is synonymous with the Foundation, alongside the Tigers' vibrant yellow sash - creating connection and unity of the partnership.

A unique feature on the inside of the guernsey includes imprints of postcards written by children who have received a Buddy Bag from the Alannah & Madeline Foundation.

Buddy Bags is a national program that provides backpacks full of basic, essential items such as a backpack, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, facewasher, pillow case, book, photo album, activity kit, book, PJs, underwear, socks - and the all-important teddy bear.

Many of these children arrive with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. The program assists around 10,000 children each year who are in refuges or emergency foster care across Australia.

The player-edition guernseys will be auctioned post-game and proceeds will be donated to the Foundation.

In addition to the auction, Richmond and the Alannah & Madeline Foundation are giving fans the chance to win Trent Cotchin’s guernsey from the Round 20 clash. All you need to do is register here and you are in the running.

Richmond partnered with the Foundation in 2012 and has raised over $220,000 to support its programs.
