Richmond’s rising star small forward Daniel Rioli underlined his huge potential, with a spectacular goal in the team’s Round 3 victory over West Coast at the MCG that has been voted by Yellow and Black barrackers as the second best of season 2017 by a Tigers player.
Early in the third quarter, with Richmond trailing by six points, Rioli contested a high ball delivered into the Tigers’ forward-50 area.
Rioli took possession of the ball after it hit the ground near the boundary line and proceeded to weave his magic . . .
He shimmied past Eagle opponent Brad Sheppard, dished off a handball to teammate Dion Prestia, kept running to receive the ball back and then, from about 40 metres out, threaded through a breathtaking goal with a ‘banana’ kick that sent the Tiger Army into raptures.
The best Richmond goal of the year, as voted by Tiger fans, will be revealed later today.
