Reece Conca has capped a remarkable comeback from a dislocated ankle by being named in Richmond’s team for Friday night’s clash with Essendon at the MCG.
Conca suffered the injury to his left ankle during the Tigers’ Round 15 match against Sydney at Etihad Stadium, but resumed playing at VFL level last Saturday.

He had 19 disposals, with four clearances and seven tackles against Williamstown at the Swinburne Centre, Punt Road Oval, before leaving the field after rolling his other ankle.
But he’s recovered well throughout the week and is a welcome addition to a Richmond side that has lost several key players through injury.

Number one ruckman Toby Nankervis also returns to the line-up after missing last Saturday’s victory over Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium because of a corked quad.
The Tigers have made five changes all-up for the Round 22 encounter with Conca, Nankervis, Sam Lloyd, Ryan Garthwaite and Liam Baker replacing injured premiership quartet Dion Prestia (hamstring soreness), Trent Cotchin (hamstring soreness), David Astbury (achilles soreness) and Kane Lambert (ankle), while Ivan Soldo has been omitted.
Richmond’s four emergencies are Anthony Miles, Connor Menadue, Corey Ellis and Ivan Soldo.
