Kane Lambert was a most welcome addition to the Richmond line-up for last Thursday night’s qualifying final against Hawthorn at the MCG.
The gun midfielder, who missed the last two games of the home-and-away season after undergoing minor ankle surgery, played a valuable role in the Tigers’ 31-point win.
He finished the match with 26 disposals, including an AFL career-high 17 contested possessions, six inside-50s, four clearances, seven intercepts, four tackles, three goal assists and seven score involvements.
Importantly, he pulled up well from the surgery and his first game in nearly a month.
“I’m a bit sore generally in my body, but the ankle’s good, so no complaints from my end,” Lambert told SEN post-match.
“It’s going to be plenty of icing and plenty of time on the physio table. I’m happy and content with where it is at.
“I think I’ll spend half my wage on ice. I’ll be going down the ‘servo’ and getting bags of ice.
“We have a fantastic medical staff. I put my trust in them, did everything they told me, and I’m feeling good.”
