Star Richmond key forward Jack Riewoldt’s upcoming induction into the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame will place him alongside some of the greatest players in Tigerland’s history.
Richmond has a rich history with regards to players from Tasmania having a major impact wearing the famous Yellow and Black colours.
The likes of brilliant key forwards Royce Hart, Michael Roach and Matthew Richardson, along with outstanding centreman Ian Stewart, are not only regarded as Richmond ‘royalty’, they’re acknowledged as true greats of the game.
But there’s a host of other fine players who represented the Tigers at AFL/VFL level that also are in the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame, going all the way back to the Club’s 1932 and 1934 premiership star Eric Zschech.
Given there are so many former Richmond players (and now a current one in Jack Riewoldt) in Tassie’s Hall of Fame, I’ve compiled a team from them, which would be hard to beat, particularly when you take a look at the half-forward line.
All played at least one senior game with the Tigers, apart from John Klug, who’s been selected on the interchange bench. Klug spent two seasons at Richmond in the mid-1980s, but didn’t crack it for a senior game.
Here’s the team . . .
