Valuable tall forward, Ty Vickery, was Richmond’s leading vote-getter in the AFL Coaches Association’s Round 5 voting.

Vickery, who took a team-high eight marks (four contested) and kicked three goals in the Tigers’ one-point loss to Fremantle at Patersons Stadium, received a combined total of five votes awarded by his coach Damien Hardwick and rival coach Ross Lyon.

“Ty was very good, I thought he was one of the better players on the ground tonight,” Hardwick said in his post-match press conference.

“He’s been thereabouts, he probably just hasn’t had opportunities presented to him at stages.

“It was good to see him take a couple of strong marks and get rewarded with some scoreboard.”

Young gun Dustin Martin was given two votes for his strong performance through the midfield, while second-year Tiger Brandon Ellis scored one vote, along with ex-Crow Chris Knights.

The top two vote-getters in last Friday night’s game were Fremantle full-back Luke McPharlin (nine votes) and Dockers ruckman Jonathon Griffin (eight votes).
