Gun midfielder Kane Lambert has taken over as Richmond’s leading vote-getter in the prestigious AFL Coaches’ Association’s Player of the Year award for 2018.
Lambert moved into equal 12th place with 56 votes after receiving eight votes for his top-class display in the Tigers’ Round 20 victory over Geelong at the MCG.
He finished the match with a team-high 31 disposals, including 14 contested possessions, eight inside-50s, eight score involvements, seven tackles and 453 metres gained.
Richmond captain Trent Cotchin polled three votes for his inspirational efforts against the Cats – 19 disposals, including 11 contested possessions, four clearances, an equal game-high nine tackles and a competition-high (for the round), elite 101 pressure points.
Star Tiger spearhead Jack Riewoldt’s quality game-high, four-goal performance earned him two votes, while brilliant key defender Alex Rance also picked up two votes for his strong showing – 13 disposals, five intercepts and a team-high 10 one-percenters.
Rounding out Richmond’s Round 20 coaches’ votes was dynamic midfielder Dustin Martin.
He was given one vote for his impressive exhibition on the night – 26 disposals, including 17 contested possessions, 10 inside-50s, 10 clearances, six score involvements and a team-high 569 metres gained.
