Talented tall forward Ty Vickery will reach the 100-game milestone for Richmond in Saturday night’s Round 22 clash with Essendon at the MCG.
Vickery, who made his senior league debut with the Tigers in Round 12 of the 2009 season against West Coast at the ‘G’, is coming off a career-high six goals in last Saturday’s 91-point victory over Collingwood.
The 200cm, 25-year-old also had a career-high 21 disposals and took 10 marks in a commanding, best-on-ground display.
“That’s all we’ve asked of Ty – his contest work week in, week out,” Richmond captain Trent Cotchin told K-Rock post-game.
“He clunked them today and he clunked them last week. He kicked six straight, which is fantastic and great for his confidence.
“He’s one of those players that needs support, and we’ve been there for him when it’s been a little bit tougher.
“But he’s reaping the rewards now and he knows what’s required for him to play consistent AFL footy. And he’s still pretty young for a big ‘fella’.
“I love seeing him go into the ruck, as well, and give us a chop-out there.”
Vickery is Richmond’s second-highest goalkicker so far this season (behind Jack Riewoldt), with 24 goals (24.7) in the 15 games he’s played.
He has a league career goal tally of 125, with 58 of those in his past 28 games.
