Richmond is pleased to announce that midfielder Emelia Yassir has re-signed with the Club for the upcoming AFLW season.
Yassir’s decision to remain at Richmond follows discussions about her future during the AFLW Trade Period.
Despite external interest, and reports of a potential move, Yassir has opted to continue her career at the Tigers.
Richmond Head of Women’s Football Kate Sheahan said it was exciting that Yassir had committed to remaining at the Club.
"The Club never wanted to lose Millzy and when the trade didn’t happen, we continued to work hard to throw our arms around her and show her how much we value her," Sheahan said.
"There’s a lot of love for Millzy in our group and at our Football Club. We see her as a big a part of the future of our program.
"In the end, the relationships built and the love and care that the Club has for Millz is a big part of the reason why she’s going to remain a Tiger."
Yassir has been an exciting player for the Tigers since arriving with pick No. 16 in the 2021 AFLW Draft, kicking 27 goals across 41 career games.
The livewire forward is characterised by her clutch match-defining moments, putting the Tigers ahead in the final moments of the fourth quarter on multiple occasions over the past two seasons.
The 21-year-old was cool, calm and collected during a tense final term against Geelong in Round 7, slotting her third major to give the Tigers the lead with five minutes remaining.
Yassir snatched the lead back for her side in the dying stages during the Opening Round against West Coast, before the Eagles unfortunately responded with one of their own to claim victory.
She was also the match-winner in Round 6 of Season 7 against Gold Coast, helping the Tigers pip the Suns with two minutes remaining as they recorded their fourth win in a row.
Richmond will continue building its 2025 list at tonight's Telstra AFLW Draft.
