Richmond has completed a trade with Gold Coast Suns, which will see selections six and 23 overall at next month’s Telstra AFL Draft arrive at the Swinburne Centre.
The selections now give Richmond seven picks inside the first round of next month's Telstra AFL Draft and the first pick of the second round, Selection No. 24 overall.
“We are delighted to have added two more quality selections, putting us in a great position to bring in some of the best youngsters in this year’s strong talent pool," Richmond General Manager- Football Talent, Blair Hartley said.
In exchange, the Club has granted defender Daniel Rioli’s request to be traded to the Suns. Selections No. 51, 61, 70, and 76 have also been traded to the Gold Coast.
The 27-year-old played 183 AFL matches for Richmond across nine seasons after being selected with the Club’s first pick (No. 15 overall) at the 2015 National Draft.
Rioli was a member of all three Richmond premiership teams in 2017, 2019 and 2020 and was this year’s Jack Dyer Medallist.
Hartley thanked Rioli for his profound contribution to the Club.
“While we are disappointed Daniel has chosen to leave the Club, we respect his decision and everything he gave to Richmond across nine years,” he added.
“We are happy to have found a mutually beneficial trade that allows for Daniel to depart, and we wish him well for the future.
“He will forever be remembered as a triple-premiership player at Richmond.”
Richmond currently holds selections 1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23 and 24 at November’s Telstra AFL Draft.
