Richmond development coach Sam Lonergan believes talented, young Tiger forward Seth Campbell is set for stardom in the AFL competition.

Lonergan, who presented Campbell with Richmond’s Bill Cosgrove/Harry Jenkins Best First Year Player award at the recent 2024 Jack Dyer Medal function night, was glowing in his praise of the 19-year-old.

“This young man is going to provide us with many highlights, I can assure you of that,” Lonergan said.

“He’s going to be a highlights package of energy and excitement. And he’s got great work ethic, dedication, along with great spirit.

“I’d like to commend our recruiting team for the work they’ve done with finding an absolute gem in the rough.

“He’s going to be a long-term player and a key part of our future.”

Campbell, recruited by Richmond from Tasmania (Burnie/North Launceston) at pick 12 overall in the AFL’s 2022 rookie draft, was sidelined for most of the 2023 season with leg and groin injuries.

But he made his senior debut with the Tigers in the opening round this year against Gold Coast at People First Stadium and went on to play 21 games all-up.
