Gun Richmond AFLW midfielders Monique Conti and Ellie McKenzie continued their impressive form into Week 5 to rise to the top ten of the league's Champion Player of the Year leaderboard.

In the Tigers’ 21-point win against Port Adelaide at IKON Park last Tuesday night, McKenzie was one of five players in Week 5 to earn a maximum 10 votes following her outstanding performance.

The 21-year-old collected 22 disposals, three marks, three tackles and 276 metres gained, with Richmond AFLW coach Ryan Ferguson stating “she’s so lively, powerful and strong.”

“(She’s) a metres gained-type player and drives the ball long to our advantage, but makes good decisions and puts a lot of pressure and strength around the ball,” Ferguson said.

Following another impressive performance, superstar Conti earned coaches’ votes yet again to see her total tally increase to 36 for the season.

The AFLW Best and Fairest winner collected 23 disposals, seven tackles, four clearances and 308 metres gained last Tuesday night at IKON Park to earn seven coaches’ votes.

Also polling in the Tigers’ win against Port Adelaide was skipper Katie Brennan, who Ferguson said has “set the tone in the last few weeks and impacted the game early,” following her three-goal performance.

“In big moments, that was when she has impacted…that’s a real leader’s game,” he said.

Brennan earned fives coaches’ votes.
