Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in last Sunday’s win over Carlton at IKON Park.
Thomson Dow (29 disposals, four tackles, eight clearances, three inside-50s)
"Thomson Dow was outstanding on the day with eight clearances and he won 16 contested possessions. I loved his game. He was tough in and around contest and he is working hard at a couple of key areas we've asked him to work at."
Tyler Sonsie (27 disposals, three tackles, five clearances, four inside-50s)
"Tyler once again found a lot of the footy. His positioning to receive handballs is really good in and around scrimmage. He's working on a couple of areas of his game surrounding his running patterns and will continue to do so."
Chad Harris (27 disposals, two tackles, two clearances, 10 rebound-50s)
"I thought Chad played a huge game for us in defence. He stood up after a disappointing week last week and it was a huge reason as to why we won the game."
Kaleb Smith (20 disposals, two inside-50s, five rebound-50s)
"Love what this kid is about, he is team-first. Ge continues to impress and improve, and he's finishing the year really strongly."
Sam Davidson (20 disposals, two tackles, one clearance, four inside-50s, two goals)
"His work rate on the day was outstanding, he kicked a couple of really important goals for us and he's piecing together a brilliant year at VFL level."
Mutaz El Nour (19 disposals, six rebound-50s)
"I though Mutaz was really solid on the day. We gave him the job on the leading goal kicker of the competition in Liam McMahon. He kicked a couple of early goals and then Mutaz shut him out of the game completely. He's such a reliable player for our team and we love having him as part of our program."
Lachie Wilson (18 disposals, three tackles, one clearance, three inside-50s, two goals)
"Talk about reliable, Lachie played midfield and as a forward as well which is a bit unusual for him, but he has absolutely nailed his role. We love having him in our side and we certainly missed him last week. I'm looking forward to a big final series from Lachie."
Liam George (17 disposals, three tackles, one clearance, one inside-50)
"He was pretty solid in his role on the weekend. I still think he can have a bit more impact on the game and probably missed a couple of opportunities that he'd like to have back inside forward 50. But, he's piecing together a really nice season."
Maurice Rioli Junior (17 disposals, eight tackles, three clearances, seven inside-50s)
"MJ was a little bit quiet in the first three quarters, but absolutely turned it on in the last quarter. One thing we know that we're always gonna get from MJ is pressure. He had eight tackles on the day to lead our team and was just instrumental. His ball use and ball winning ability in the last quarter when it counted was outstanding."
Tom McCarthy (15 disposals, two tackles, one clearance, four rebound-50s)
"Tom had one of the highlights of the day coming forward to impact a really crucial contest for us at half-forward, which resulted in a goal. He used the ball extremely well on the day. He's been a huge acquisition for our team and we love his commitment to contest and speed across half-back."
Mohammad Yassine (15 disposals, one tackle, one clearance, two inside-50s, two goals)
"He kicked a couple of really important goals, but also filled a need for us down back. I thought his ball use was really, really solid down there. He'll only benefit from the experience down back and I'm really looking forward to seeing him shine in the final series."
Austin Johnson (14 disposals, three tackles, three clearances, three inside-50s, two goals)
"He's such a reliable wingman for us. He runs great patterns on the wing all day long and kicked two goals on the day, one of which was an outstanding finish from a snap in and around traffic. His ball use is brilliant and he's solid in contest. We love what he brings to our side."
Tom Brindley (12 disposals, one tackle, two rebound-50s)
"Brindley did a great job. He was crook on the day and he just continued to show up and do what was asked of him, as we were pretty undersized down back. I really appreciate him digging deep despite being unwell on the day."
Harvey Langford (12 disposals, three tackles, two clearances, eight inside-50s)
"It's difficult for a young kid to come in and play in a system that he's not really familiar with, but I thought he had a couple of crucial moments that you could see he was going to be a serious player in time. He led our team with eight inside-50s on the day."
Noah Cumberland (12 disposals, three tackles, five inside-50s, two goals)
"He certainly had no trouble finding the footy in on the day and was good in contest. He kicked a couple of crucial goals for us. Looking for him to continue to bring others into the game, as this is when he's at his best."
Archie May (12 disposals, one tackle, one inside-50, two goals)
"I've loved seeing Archie return back to the field after a significant wrist injury. He took four contested marks on the day, which is a great result. Had it not been for some inaccurate goal kicking, he would have had an absolute day out. He's a young player that is progressing at a rapid rate."
Nick Guiney (11 disposals, one clearance, one inside-50, two rebound-50s)
"I thought Nick was really solid. He unfortunately got knocked out and concussed quite badly coming forward to lay an aggressive tackle. Unfortunately we'll be without Nick for the next couple of weeks, but we wish him a speedy recovery."
Samson Ryan (11 disposals, one tackle, three clearances, two inside-50s)
"Samson came up against Carlton's Alex Mirko in the ruck and it was a pretty even tussle throughout the day. I think he's got the ability to dominate games at this level and I think he will be setting himself to attack Williamstown."
Marlion Pickett (11 disposals, two tackles, one clearance, one inside-50)
"It wasn't Marlion's biggest day, but he certainly offered us a lot around the contest and had a few really important moments, particularly late in the game that helped us get the ball going forward. His experience was really important with a young group around him.
Nick Collier (10 disposals, two tackles, one inside-50)
"I just love what this kid does for our team, he puts the team first every single time. He played forward and played back. No matter what role you ask him to play, he executes it perfectly. He's a really valuable member of our team."
Kane McAuliffe (6 disposals, one clearance, two inside-50s)
"He hurt himself just before quarter time and played no further part, but we're really hopeful that that injury is not quite as serious as first thought."
Ollie Hayes-Brown (five disposals, two tackles, one goal)
"Ollie played in the ruck and up forward. He took a couple of really good marks on the day and kicked his first goal in Tigers colours, which is something that we were all extremely excited about."
Liam Fawcett (five disposals, two inside 50s, one goal)
"I'm just really excited to have him back out on the field. It's been a long time coming and he's got some athletic attributes that we're extremely excited about, and we're looking forward to seeing him progress into the future."
