Richmond wingman Hugo Ralphsmith has signed a fresh two-year extension that will keep him at the Club until at least the end of 2026.

The in-form youngster has taken his game to a new level in 2024, with his athleticism and running capability adding an extra dimension to the Tigers’ midfield.

Ralphsmith has played 12 consecutive games since earning an AFL recall in Round 6 and has averaged 14 disposals and four marks per game.

The exciting 22-year-old's potential was on full display in the weekend’s spirited performance against GWS, with Ralphsmith pumping in a team-high seven inside 50s and gaining 431 meters from his 16 disposals.

Ralphsmith also disposed of the ball at 94% efficiency and spent a massive 92% time on ground, grabbing three intercept possessions and going close to a huge, contested mark inside 50.

Having been selected with pick No. 46 at the 2019 AFL Draft, Ralphsmith has featured 44 times for the Tigers.

The 188cm midfielder spent his first season among Richmond’s Queensland hub in 2020, honing his craft before earning his AFL debut and six senior games the following year.

Ralphsmith then played 13 games in each of the past two seasons, a figure he is on track to surpass this year.

The youngster said he had been working hard to play his role for the team.

"I feel like I have started to play some consistent football a bit more, so it is a really good feeling," Ralphsmith said.

"(My growth) has been slow and steady, but it is picking up now, and I have been working really hard on the contested side of my game.

"Hopefully, we grow as a team, and I will try and be a part of this team as best as I can.

"Going into my sixth and seventh year, I want to be more of a leader and help this team grow and get better."
