Tim Taranto underlined his importance in the Richmond line-up with the strong performance he produced against Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval last Thursday night.
The star midfielder and reigning Jack Dyer Medallist, playing his first game since the Gather Round in Adelaide after breaking his wrist, was instrumental in the Tigers snapping an eight-game losing streak.
He had 26 disposals, a game-high 14 contested possessions, equal team-high eight tackles, five inside-50s, six clearances and 423 metres gained.
Taranto’s return provided Richmond with much-needed experience and expertise through the midfield.
It certainly was no coincidence that the Tigers managed to jag just their second win of the season with Taranto back in the side following his lengthy stint on the sidelines.
In Richmond’s previous success this season – Round 3 against ladder leader Sydney at the MCG – Taranto was superb with a game-high 35 disposals, 11 contested possessions, one goal, a game-high eight clearances, six inside-50s and six tackles.
