Richmond Football Club would like to congratulate Sam Mostyn AO on her appointment as the next Governor-General of Australia.

“Sam has been a selfless contributor to public life over a long period of time and this appointment is wonderful recognition of her outstanding service,” Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said.

“She is a great friend of the game of Australian Rules Football having served on the board of the Sydney Swans before becoming the first female AFL commissioner, a role in which she challenged boundaries and thinking, and made our game better.

“Sam will do a wonderful job as Australia’s 28^th Governor-General and we wish her well.”
