Richmond has added five players to its squad for Sunday’s Round 12 match against Gold Coast at the MCG.

The Tigers have named midfielder Reece Conca and tall forward Liam McBean for potentially their first appearances at senior league level this season.

Conca has produced some impressive performances with Richmond’s VFL side over the past few weeks, on the comeback trail from a severe hamstring injury that he sustained early this year.

He was clearly the VFL Tigers’ best player in last Sunday’s loss to Coburg, finishing with 36 disposals, including 21 contested possessions, five clearances, seven tackles and a goal.

McBean was assigned some ruck duties during that match, when Ivan Soldo had to leave the field after being concussed.  He responded admirably, with 18 hit-outs, five tackles and four shots for goal (1.3) when serving in his customary forward role.

Talented defender Dylan Grimes has been included in Richmond’s squad, despite withdrawing from last Friday night’s match against North Melbourne at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena, just a couple of minutes before the opening bounce, because of hamstring tightness.

The Tigers also have recalled young pair Connor Menadue and Jayden Short.

The outs at this stage are Steve Morris, with his season-ending knee injury, and Troy Chaplin, who has been omitted.

Richmond will finalise its team tomorrow (Friday) afternoon.
