Richmond recently opened its doors to over 20 local businesses as part of its inaugural 3121 Friends of Tigerland program event.
Guests were treated to an exclusive viewing of Richmond training and morning tea catered by local cafes Laikon Deli and Almost French Patisserie.
The morning tea allowed local owners to connect with the Club and representative staff while meeting or reconnecting with other businesses and like-minded people within the area.
The 3121 Friends of Tigerland program was established last year to re-engage and re-establish relationships after the pandemic and provide collaboration opportunities within the suburb.
Attendees at the morning tea ranged from a diverse mix of product- and service-based businesses, some of which had been in operation for over 20 years, others within their first 12 months of establishment.
Shelley Woolcock, Economic Development Officer for the City of Yarra, was delighted about the Club’s new initiative to connect and strengthen relationships within the community.
“We have worked closely with the Richmond Football Club for a number of years, and I’m really excited about this initiative. Having the support of a community-minded club like Richmond is crucial to ensuring we remain an engaged community with vibrant and thriving precincts,” she said.
Richmond’s Marketing Manager, Ella Scott, said the spirit embodied by the 3121 suburb was something not lost on the Club, adding that strengthening relationships with the community was incredibly important.
“The initial response to the program has been overwhelming,” she said.
“We have had over 70 businesses signed up since we launched in May and look forward to further growing the program into season 2024 and beyond”.
