Richmond’s inaugural AFLW side will start to take shape over the coming weeks, with the AFLW sign and trade period starting on Monday.
During the sign and trade period, which runs from April 8-18, Richmond and the three other new Clubs (St Kilda, West Coast and Gold Coast) can sign up to 12 AFLW players each.

The six current Victorian Clubs (Melbourne, North Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Collingwood, Carlton and Geelong) can each lose no more than four players.
Adelaide and Greater Western Sydney can also only lose a maximum of four players each, while Brisbane and Fremantle can lose up to eight each.
While the Tigers have been permitted to pre-select up to 10 non-current AFLW players since January, they are yet to make their first signing.

Head of Women’s Football Kate Sheahan said the Club can’t wait to start signing players, and welcome Richmond’s maiden AFLW players to the Tiger community.
“Hopefully we’ll make some announcements early Monday morning about some players coming to Punt Road, it’s really exciting,” she said.
“We’re pretty pumped about some of the options we’ve got in the pipeline and really excited to share them with our Tiger fans.
“There’s been a huge amount of work and preparation put in by our team, led by (VFLW coach) Tom Hunter and Matt Parker our high-performance manager, and Neil Balme has been heavily involved in a lot of discussions around the type of player we want to attract to our Club and the type of person.”

As Richmond enters its second season in the VFLW, Sheahan said some of the talent within that program may come into the AFLW mix.
“We’ll also look internally into our VFLW program at some of the talent we’ve been developing over the past 18 months that we think are really ready to step up,” she said.
