Star Richmond key forward Tom Lynch’s wet-weather masterclass in the opening half of Friday night’s blockbuster clash with Collingwood drew huge praise from former Melbourne champion and now high-profile football commentator Garry Lyon.
Lynch kicked four of his five goals for the match during first half and put the Magpies’ defence to the sword in the soggy conditions.

“Tom Lynch played one of the great wet-weather halves of footy for a key forward,” Lyon told AFL Nation in his half-time summary of the contest.
“He’s been as clean as anyone on the ground. Up until recently, he’d won as many ground balls in the forward 50 as anyone else on the ground and he’s got four goals on the board.
“It’s one of the great wet-weather halves you would hope to see.”
