In 2015, Richmond will celebrate the 50th anniversary of playing home games at the MCG, with its most home-and-away appearances there during a season for 16 years.

The Tigers have been awarded 14 games at the ‘G’ next season, which is the equal highest total for any club in the competition (along with Collingwood).

You have to go all the way back to the year before the advent of Etihad Stadium, for the last time that Richmond had more matches in a season at the home of football.

That was in 1999, when the Tigers played 17 MCG games all-up.

Since Etihad Stadium’s introduction in 2000, the most home-and-away matches Richmond previously had at the G, was 13 (in both 2012 and 2013).

Richmond’s first home game at the MCG was in the opening round of the 1965 season, against reigning premier Melbourne.  The Tigers lost by a goal.

Their first home win at the G was in Round 5 that season, when they defeated Hawthorn by 45 points.
