The game will now take place at Traeger Park Oval on Friday night.
A super sopper was brought in from Adelaide to dry out TIO Stadium but, after an AFL inspection, the ground was ruled unsafe because of five distinct wet patches around the oval.
AFLNT Tony Frawley said he was pleased the game could be moved to Alice Springs
"This is a great outcome for the NT as despite being forced to cancel the game at TIO stadium in Darwin the game is now staying in the Territory," Frawley said.
"AFLNT will now commit all its available resources to putting the game on in seven days and we are confident that the game will be exceptionally well supported by the footy loving public of Alice Springs."
Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said he was happy the game could still be played.
"It is fantastic that this game is able to go ahead - it really is a game, and a celebration of indigenous culture, that we are proud to be involved in," Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said.
"Alice Springs is a part of Australia that Richmond has had close ties with through our fostership program so we are thrilled it has been identified as a suitable venue."
