Dynamic, young Richmond midfielder, Dustin Martin, is maintaining an impressive level of consistency deep into his fourth season of AFL football.

Martin racked up 30 disposals or more for the third consecutive week, in Sunday’s Round 18 clash with the Sydney Swans at the SCG.

Included in his 30 touches were five rebound-50s, four inside-50 entries, four clearances and two team-lifting goals.

To further underline his improved stamina, he had nine disposals in the last quarter.

The 22-year-old, who finished third in the 2011 Jack Dyer Medal, in just his second year of league football, is averaging 24.5 disposals per game this season.

All-up, he has had 30 disposals or more in season 2013 on five occasions – 35 v Western Bulldogs, Round 3, 33 v Port Adelaide, Round 7, 31 v Gold Coast, Round 16, 30 v Fremantle, Round 17 and 30 v Sydney, Round 18.  His previous best return of 30 touches or more in a season was two, which he achieved in both 2011 and 2012.

Martin is ranked equal fourth in the competition for total uncontested possessions with 289 after 17 games, behind leader, gun Collingwood midfielder, Dane Swan, on 320.

He was the only Richmond player to receive votes (three) in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award for the Round 18 match against Sydney.
