Triple Richmond premiership coach Damien Hardwick will reach the 300-game coaching milestone in Friday night’s blockbuster clash with Collingwood at the MCG.
Hardwick becomes just the 23rd coaching in AFL/VFL history to accomplish this feat.
He is third on the list of most games coached by current AFL coaches, behind Ross Lyon 307 and Alastair Clarkson 392.
He is fourth on the all-time AFL list for most games coached by a one club coach, behind Geelong’s Reg Hickey 304, Essendon’s Dick Reynolds 415, and Collingwood’s Jock McHale 714.
And he will be one of only eight men to have coached 300 games or more at the one club, with the others being Hickey, Reynolds, McHale, Kevin Sheedy (Essendon), Allan Jeans (St Kilda), Norm Smith (Melbourne) and Alastair Clarkson (Hawthorn).
Hardwick, who made his coaching debut with the Tigers in Round 1, 2010 against Carlton at the MCG, is the Club’s longest-serving coach, ahead of Tommy Hafey 248 games and Jack Dyer 222 games.
His home-and-away coaching record is 283 games for 158 wins, six draws and 119 losses.
His finals record is 16 games for 10 wins, six losses.
And his overall record is 299 games for 168 wins, six draws and 125 losses.
That is an overall winning strike-rate of 57 per cent.
