Barring something unforeseen, Trent Cotchin will become the third longest-serving captain in Richmond’s league football history during the 2017 season.
Cotchin, whose reappointment as the Club’s skipper was announced last Friday, has captained the Tigers in 93 games all-up over the past four years.
He is only one game behind Richmond’s 1920-21 premiership captain-coach Dan Minogue, seven away from dual Jack Dyer Medallist Matthew Knights, and 11 short of Tigers’ Team of the Century member Des Rowe.
Percy Bentley holds the record for the most games as Richmond captain – 168 from 1932-40 – including the Club’s premierships in 1932 and 1934.
Tiger ‘Immortal’, the great Jack Dyer, is second on the Club’s captaincy longevity list, with 160 games from 1940-49.
