League football great Ian Stewart will present current-day Richmond star Trent Cotchin with the 2012 Brownlow Medal he’s been retrospectively awarded, at a special ceremony to be held next Tuesday (December 13).
Stewart, a champion centreman, was the last Tigers’ player to win the Brownlow Medal before Cotchin.
He captured the game’s most prestigious award in his debut season at Tigerland in 1971, after previously winning two Brownlows at St Kilda.
The triple Brownlow Medallist, 1973 Richmond premiership star, Tigers Team of the Century member and Australian Hall of Fame Legend will give Cotchin the 2012 Brownlow at a low-key, lunchtime function in Melbourne.
The 45-minute presentation, to take place in Melbourne, will be open to the media and be followed by a private gathering for Cotchin and joint 2012 Brownlow winner Sam Mitchell, of family, friends and special guests.
Mitchell will receive his medal from Hawthorn champion Shane Crawford, who won the Brownlow in 1999.
