Notwithstanding the bitter disappointment of Richmond’s two-point loss to Fremantle at the MCG yesterday, the Tigers’ flying finish to the match further underlined their strong last-quarter performances in 2017.
Richmond has won six of eight last quarters this season, outscoring its opposition by 95 points overall in those final terms.
The Tigers, who had managed only 10 scoring shots (5.5) up until three-quarter time of their clash with the Dockers, and trailed by 30 points, stormed home, kicking 5.5 to just 1.1, albeit that one goal (after the final siren) by the visitors being enough to secure victory for them.
In direct contrast to those impressive last quarters is Richmond’s third-quarter scoring efforts so far this season.
The Tigers have won just two of eight third quarters and been outscored in them by a total of 82 points.
