Excitement machine Shai Bolton polled the most votes in the 2022 AFL Coaches’ Association’s Player of the Year award Round 17 Richmond v Gold Coast match at Metricon Stadium.
The dual premiership Tiger was given nine votes by respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Stuart Dew (Gold Coast) for his scintillating performance up forward and through the midfield.
Bolton finished the match with 29 disposals, game-high 18 contested possessions, three marks, six inside-50s, a team-high eight clearances, game-high seven centre clearances, equal game-high three goals, team-high 11 score involvements and 551 metres gained.
Two other Richmond players featured in the Round 17 voting – valuable veteran key defender Robbie Tarrant and star rebounding defender Daniel Rioli. Tarrant received two votes, while Rioli picked up one vote.
