Richmond’s forward line duo of Jack Riewoldt and Ty Vickery will enjoy unhindered pre-season campaigns as they build into the 2013 season.

Vickery missed most of the 2012 season with a shoulder injury, while Riewoldt, despite winning the Coleman Medal with 65 goals, was limited at times after a stagnant preparation to the season.
Vickery, in particular, was sorely missed from the Tigers’ line-up last season, after succumbing to injury in Round 11.

The top-10 draft pick had a breakout season in 2011, playing every game and booting 36 goals.

“He’s a guy that is of enormous importance to us.  He’s just a positive when he walks onto the field,” said Richmond coach Damien Hardwick.

“He straightens us up, he certainly gives Ivan Maric some help in the ruck situation, and he’s an important part of our future.

“We probably played him a little bit injured last year, so we’re looking forward to big season from Ty next year.”

Riewoldt returned to pre-season training yesterday, and Hardwick is predicting a bigger output from his star forward in 2013.

“Jack didn’t have a pre-season last year.  This year he’ll come in unhindered.  We’re looking for a bigger season from Jack,” he said.

Richmond also bolstered its attacking options in the recent trade period, bringing in Aaron Edwards in a deal with North Melbourne.
