Triple Richmond premiership ruckman Toby Nankervis is thriving in his new role this season as the team’s co-captain.
Nankervis has been providing the Tigers with inspirational on-field leadership through his robust style of ruck play.
Not only has he won plenty of hit-outs at centre bounces and around-the-ground stoppages, as well as applied intense pressure to opposition players, he’s also racked up impressive disposal and clearance numbers.
The 27-year-old is averaging 15.8 disposals, 8.4 contested possessions, 3.6 clearances, 2.3 stoppage clearances, 4.7 score involvements, 4.1 tackles and 27.2 hit-outs per game this season.
He was a major factor in Richmond’s Round 9 win against Hawthorn at the MCG last Saturday afternoon with 20 disposals, a game-high 15 contested possessions, an equal game-high eight clearances, game-high six stoppage clearances, five tackles, 35 hit-outs and a crucial goal.
