Richmond’s Senior Development Coach, Mark Williams, believes utility Nathan Gordon has the attributes to become a senior regular with the Tigers.
Gordon has shown glimpses of his ability in five appearances in the AFL this season, after crossing SANFL club North Adelaide at the end of 2013.
The 24-year-old former Sydney Swan made his debut in Richmond colours in Round 3 against the Western Bulldogs, where he picked up 15 disposals and kicked a goal.
His most memorable performances came against Brisbane, where he kicked three goals in the final quarter after starting as the substitute, and the following week against Hawthorn, where he collected 18 disposals and took eight marks.
“It’s important to know that when you watch Nathan, he has real AFL attributes,” Williams told Roar Vision.
“He can really run, he has great speed, and his endurance is outstanding, so that means he can cover the position from half forward to half back pretty easily, and keep doing it.
“When he’s come onto the ground a couple of times as the sub, he’s been outstanding.
“He kicked three goals against Brisbane, and just popped up in the right place at the right time, and that’s because of his running ability.”
“His big task will be to keep learning the game plan and keep understanding the game, and work on contested footy.
“Once he’s done those things, he’s going to play a lot of games.”
