Richmond coach Damien Hardwick provided a concise assessment of the progression made by the Club’s five new draftees throughout their first pre-season at Tigerland in his guest spot on the opening episode of Talking Tigers for 2022. Here is what 'Dimma' had to say...
Josh Gibcus
"Josh is a player we think will be thereabouts for Round 1 selection."
Tom Brown
"He would have been not too far behind, but he had a COVID issue . . . the intra-club he didn’t play. But then he played the Geelong game, and he played really well at VFL level again."
Tyler Sonsie
"What I love about this kid is he just found it 27 times on the weekend (at VFL level v Box Hill). He’s got some work to do on his fitness, but the one thing you can’t teach a player is how to win the ball, and he does it. So, we reckon all the other stuff we can work on."
Judson Clarke
"Judson’s a young Kane Lambert that we really, really enjoy. He’s going to be a little bit of a slower burn. He’s obviously young in stature, but he’s going to be an incredible player, I think, over a period of time. Great running capacity, he understands the game really well. Sleeps with the footy, which is always a good sign."
Sam Banks
"I love 'Banksy'. He’s been a little bit unfortunate. He’s missed a lot of footy with injury, but he’s got talent this kid. He, once again, will be a little bit slower, but he’s just starting to join in full training now and we look forward to what he brings."
